a space to connect with your whole being in the present moment

Different aspirations may lead you to Shiatsu:
enjoying a moment of relaxation and connection,
maintaining your health and vitality,
navigating physical and emotional tensions
— whether occasional or chronic —
deepening self-awareness,
or receiving support during times of change.
Shiatsu can support these aspirations at any stage of life.
I am Maïté, certified Shiatsu practitioner since 2022
and I would be glad to welcome you to my practice !

SHIATSU is a form of whole-body treatment through touch.
It was born in Japan, at the crossroads between ancient Chinese medicine and Japan’s own manual healing traditions. SHIATSU views the human being as a network of energy and relationships within the body, connecting physical structure and emotional well-being.
SHIATSU is often described as “The Art of Touch“.
A touch that reaches the whole being.
A mindful and sensitive touch can bring the body into a state of deep relaxation, allowing it to release all forms of stress and tension, while re-centering and re-balancing itself on physical, mental, and emotional levels.
A “listening” touch can act as a mirror, allowing the body to become aware of its state and activate its self-healing abilities.
A touch guided by what is present, without any intention of manipulation, fosters and encourages acceptance.
A touch in contact, in resonance, can accompany the body in its current state and respond to its needs.
A touch that guides by letting itself be guided can touch the essence.

In Shiatsu, touch becomes a living dialogue between practitioner and receiver.
The practitioner’s touch offers an impulse — not to impose, but to listen: How does the body respond? What movement begins beneath the surface?
Rather than directing, the touch follows, constantly adjusting in search of resonance.
Where a shared rhythm is found, a quiet dance begins — one where the initial impulse is shaped by the response it awakens.
To feel seen and heard through touch is also to experience being fully accepted and acknowledged for who you are. This allows release and transformation to emerge.
My approach is rooted in the belief that you already hold the resources you need to feel well and move forward.
I also trust that you know better than anyone else what is best for you and what can help you feel better.
My role is not to provide you with those resources, but to accompany you — while letting myself be guided — in awakening them.
It’s important to note that Shiatsu is never a substitute for medical advice or treatment.
Holistic therapies are intended to offer complementary support alongside conventional medicine.

I was born in Belgium and have been living in Berlin since 2014. My training as an interior architect led me to work on architectural and exhibition scenography projects in Belgium and later in Berlin.
Fascinated for a long time by the language of the body, I navigate through the practice of dance, movement and voice.
I discovered Shiatsu in 2019 during an introductory weekend at the Shiatsu Schule Kreuzberg. This approach resonates with me, and I embrace its learning with joy.
Shiatsu invites full presence in the attention given to the other, while holding back one’s own ego and without seeking to change anything in particular. Shiatsu fosters curiosity, acceptance, and letting go. It touches not only the who receives, but also the one who gives, it is an exchange.
My understanding of Shiatsu is inevitably limited by the fact that I did not grow up within the cultural and philosophical context from which it originates.
Shiatsu is rooted in an East Asian worldview that understands the body, health, and life through concepts and experiences different from those of the Western culture I was raised in.
I approach this practice through my own cultural lenses, aware that my perspective is shaped — and sometimes constrained — by them.
Shiatsu is an endless learning process. Each session is a reminder that understanding is always partial, always evolving — a continuous process of listening and discovery.
For me, practicing Shiatsu is a source of fulfillment and balance.
In 2022, I completed my training at the Shiatsu Schule Kreuzberg with Harald Gierl, and since then, I have been practicing alongside my work in the field of scenography.

A Shiatsu session takes place fully clothed, on a futon on the floor.
Different techniques may be used and applied to the whole body, depending on individual needs: joint mobilization, muscle stretching, acupressure, loosening.
If you’d like to discuss something specific, we can have a short conversation before and/or after the treatment.
After the treatment, you can remain lying down for a while to allow the body to assimilate the experience.
It is advisable to wear soft, comfortable clothing and bring warm socks.
